DDR – Delete Complete Transaction Data
This guide explains how to safely perform Transaction Data deletion using the DDR Data Deletion application. It outlines the step-by-step process, highlights critical security controls such as loopback RFC usage, and provides key warnings to ensure data is removed in a controlled and secure manner within non-production SAP environments.
The Data Deletion feature in Dynamic Data Replicator (DDR) enables authorised SAP teams to remove transaction data from a target SAP system in a controlled and secure way.
Data deletion is a destructive activity. It must only be executed in approved non-production or controlled environments. Before execution, confirm that the deletion scope has been approved, a valid backup or recovery option is available, and the correct target system has been selected.
Select Data Deletion, choose Transaction data, then select the approved loopback RFC connection.
From the DDR Central Console, click Shell from the left-hand menu. When the popup appears, select Data Deletion. Choose the Transaction data radio button to delete transactional records only. Select the approved RFC connection. For security, this must be the loopback RFC pointing back to the target system. Confirm that only transaction data is selected and that the connection does not point to production. Click Create to start the controlled deletion process and monitor the logs in DDR.
DDR is designed to protect production systems from accidental deletion activity. For this reason, deletion should only be allowed through a loopback RFC going back to the target system.
Confirm the target system is non-production, the selected RFC is the loopback RFC, backups are available, no critical testing is active, business approval is recorded, and post-deletion validation steps are agreed.
Delete Complete Transaction Data Only
This guide focuses on deleting transaction data only. This option is normally used when the target system must be cleaned for testing, training, development, or post-refresh preparation while retaining configuration and other required setup.
Warning and Disclaimer
Once transaction data has been deleted, recovery may require restore, reload, or re-replication activity. DDR provides controlled deletion options, but the user remains responsible for selecting the correct system, connection, and deletion scope.
Step-by-Step Process
Security Control: Loopback RFC Only
External source RFC destinations should not be permitted for deletion operations. This prevents users from accidentally selecting an RFC connection back to production or another unintended SAP system.
