DDR Pause Job – Controlled Runtime Pause & Resume Guide
DDR Pause Job functionality provides controlled runtime execution management during SAP replication activities.
The functionality allows administrators and operational teams to temporarily pause active replication jobs
without losing execution progress or restarting the replication from the beginning.
Once a job is paused, DDR preserves the runtime execution state and allows the job to be resumed later.
When restarted, the replication continues from the exact point where the execution was paused.
This functionality is extremely important for large enterprise SAP refreshes where operational interruptions,
infrastructure limitations, maintenance windows, workload balancing, or emergency runtime management activities may occur.
Purpose of DDR Pause Job Functionality
DDR Pause Job functionality is designed to provide operational flexibility and runtime execution control during SAP replication activities. Instead of cancelling or restarting long-running refreshes, administrators can safely pause active runtime processing and continue execution later.
- Pause active replication execution
- Resume replication from the paused runtime position
- Prevent full restart of large refresh activities
- Improve operational runtime management
- Support infrastructure maintenance windows
- Manage runtime workload balancing
- Reduce operational execution risk
This capability is especially valuable during large SAP refreshes where execution runtime may span several hours or days.
Select Active Runtime Execution
From the DDR Central Console Dashboard, select the active replication execution by clicking the radio button before the export template.
The Dashboard provides full runtime visibility including source status, target status, workprocess allocation, package sizing, table count, database sizing, and runtime execution monitoring.
Pause Active Replication Job
Once the active runtime execution is selected, click the Pause Job button from the Dashboard execution toolbar.
DDR safely pauses the replication runtime activity while preserving execution state, processed records, workprocess allocation, and runtime progress information.
When the replication is restarted later, DDR automatically resumes the execution from the exact point where the runtime was paused, eliminating the need to restart the refresh from the beginning.
Confirm Pause Replication Request
After selecting Pause Job, DDR opens the Pause Replication confirmation popup. The administrator must provide a reason for the pause request before continuing with the runtime cancellation activity.
DDR safely cancels the active runtime workprocesses while preserving the replication execution state. Once resumed, the replication automatically continues from the exact runtime position where the execution was paused.
This functionality is especially important for operational governance, audit tracking, runtime recovery management, and controlled execution handling during enterprise SAP refresh activities.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Reason for Cancellation | Defines the operational reason for pausing the active replication execution. This supports runtime governance and audit visibility. |
| Continue to Cancellation | Confirms the pause request and safely stops the active runtime workprocesses while preserving replication progress. |
| Exit | Closes the popup without pausing the active replication execution. |
Key Benefits of DDR Pause Job
DDR Pause Job functionality provides enterprise-grade operational flexibility, runtime control, and execution recovery capabilities across SAP refresh activities.
