DDR Simulation – Advanced Estimation & Runtime Analysis

DDR Simulation is one of the most advanced functionalities within Dynamic Data Replicator. The Simulation feature allows organisations to accurately identify what the actual refresh execution will look like before the live runtime execution begins.

The functionality provides complete visibility into estimated table reads, expected runtime duration, workprocess usage, database sizing, package sizing, and workload distribution. This enables SAP teams to perform controlled runtime estimation and execution forecasting before production execution.

DDR Simulation can also retain the simulation result in memory for later execution. This significantly improves operational planning, runtime optimisation, execution preparation, and large SAP refresh estimation activities.

Estimated Analyse estimated runtime duration and expected execution behaviour.
Visible Understand table count, database size, and workload distribution before execution.
Reusable Keep simulation results in memory for later execution processing.
Controlled Perform runtime forecasting before actual SAP data refresh execution begins.
Step 1

Access the DDR Dashboard

From the DDR Central Console, select Dashboard from the left navigation menu. Select the export by clicking the radio button before the template name and then click Simulation from the execution toolbar.

Step 2

Execute Simulation Runtime Analysis

When Simulation is executed, DDR performs an advanced estimation analysis to identify the expected runtime behaviour for the selected refresh template.

DDR will display a popup asking whether the simulation result should be retained in memory for later actual execution runtime processing.

  • Yes: Retains the simulation result in memory for later runtime execution.
  • No: Performs runtime estimation analysis only.

Benefits & Advantages

Key Benefits of DDR Simulation

DDR Simulation provides organisations with complete operational visibility before the actual runtime execution begins. This functionality is designed to reduce execution risk, improve runtime forecasting, optimise infrastructure usage, and provide accurate workload estimation across SAP refresh activities.

Runtime Estimation Identify expected execution duration before actual runtime processing begins.
Database Visibility Understand expected table count, data volume, and estimated database footprint.
Workprocess Planning Analyse workprocess allocation and workload distribution before execution.
Package Optimisation Optimise package size and runtime performance for large SAP datasets.
Execution Forecasting Forecast operational workload and identify potential runtime bottlenecks early.
Reusable Simulation Retain simulation output in memory for reuse during actual execution runtime.
Reduced Risk Validate expected runtime behaviour before production refresh execution begins.
Enterprise Planning Improve planning and scheduling activities for large enterprise SAP refreshes.
